Nobody can have failed to notice the incredible rise in the price of gas in recent months. This has come after years of slowly increasing prices and we are now at a point where everybody is feeling the pinch. The rise may mean you are driving a bit less or perhaps it means you have cut back on your spending. Few people are able to just ignore it.
You want to know if you can do anything about the price of oil? I am sorry to disappoint you but the price of oil is out of our hands. What we can do is make our cars more economical, use our cars less and drive in a way that uses less gas for each trip.
Stop using your car! It may sound a bit dramatic but it is the best way to save gas, if it is a little inconvenient. So we must accept that for most of us that is not possible but we can use our cars less often. By combining several shopping trips into one you will save a lot on gas and if you were to take turns driving, going shopping with your neighbors you could save a lot of gas that way too.
We can drive in a way that uses less gas. Not many people are aware of this but hard acceleration and braking wastes gas. If you plan ahead and slow gently you will save gas. Accelerate gently and smoothly and you will use a lot less gas than you would with a heavy boot on the throttle. The secret is to think ahead and see what the traffic is doing in front of you so you do not need to reacte suddenly. This will save you gas.
We can also be more economical by driving smaller and more efficient cars, we can keep our cars serviced more often so they run at optimum efficiency. Another possibility is to fit some gas saving or energy efficient devices to help our cars use less gas.
These gas saving devices have been mocked over the years. Car companies and the oil industry have been quick to dismiss them. The trouble is that these organizations have a vested interest and the oil companies wanted us to use more gas while the car companies didn’t want to look like they were not bothered about our cars fuel consumption.
I have not tried many of these but anything you have to keep buying to add to your gas will make the economics of any savings less likely but take a look at them and see for yourself. With gas prices so high now anything that saves gas may make a lot more sense than it did a few years ago.
It seems to be years now that we have been told the future is with hydrogen gas. It still seems to be years away and even when it is fully developed it will take a long time to convert all the gas stations to hydrogen gas stations. There are a few hydrogen cars being tested now but it will be a time before they are common on our roads but there are people who have been working on using their own hydrogen systems to save gas on the cars we already have.
Enthusiasts working away in their garages and workshops have come up with systems that are easily built from regular parts available at local hardware stores and can be put together in a few hours. They explain how to build these kits and fit them to your car and you could be reducing your gas usage in next to no time all thanks to a simple guide you can get online.
