Are you as tired as I am of hearing about the price of gas these days? The gas prices rose once again due to the latest hurricane that hit through our nation. This time around my family and I were not affected with this new price hike. Why, you may ask?

Our first electric car conversion project has now become a reality. We have now reached the point where we are not worried about the price of gas. Two months ago when we were first considering electric car conversion, we were not sure if it would even meet our needs or if it could even be done.

We had this same question. We research on the Internet electric car conversions to find more information. Our specific questions were whether or not building an electric car was actually achievable, how much would it cost us to convert our car to electric, and what were the steps to get started. We don’t have an automotive background so we needed as much help as possible. However, we wanted to ensure that this would not be a vehicle improvement nightmare at the same time.

Hiring a mechanic did cross our mind. We searched for the cost to pay a mechanic to convert our vehicle. With the rise of gas prices, there is more of a demand for electric car conversions. So, given that, the cost to hire a mechanic was definititely more than we were willing to pay. So, the decision was made to try the conversion ourselves.

As far as the difficulty to convert a vehicle, it is a fairly simple process if you get the right tools in place. Many people follow guides that take them through the conversion process step by step. The process can be completed in a fair amount of time depending upon your own knowledge and how much time you can devote to it.

The process to complete an electric car conversion simply involves replacing your gasoline-powered engine with an electric motor. The motor is powered by a series of rechargeable batteries. The size and speed of your motor and batteries will determine the distance in which your car can go before it needs to recharge. The average distance that can be expected is 50 or 60 miles.

Using an electric car how to guide will assist in taking a beginner go from start to finish. Guides that provide complete instructions with pictures and diagrams are the best to get started with. A well written guide will also have resources available to you to show you were you can get your tools and parts for very affordable prices.

Building an electric car can be a feasible solution to cut your gas bills. There is no more dependency on oil for us. We have now reached the point that we are able to drive by a gas station without batting one eye lash as we see the price for a regular gallon of gas.
