« Car Insurance Guide for the US state of Nevada Using the Internet to Find Cheap Female Car Insurance »
If you drive a car you are financially responsible for any damage you cause during an accident. Without insurance, you can be fined, lose your license, or have your car impounded. If you want to save money on insurance, have several companies work up a car insurance estimate for you before you buy any auto insurance.
There are several ways to ask companies to work up that quote. On way that works but is not recommended is by walking into an agent’s office and asking for a quote. You are put on the spot to make a decision as soon as you are given the quote. More than likely you do not have any other quotes to compare with the current quote so you will likely pay more for insurance than if you had requested the estimate in other ways.
A better way is to make phone calls to several insurance agents or companies and request quotes for insurance prices. Do not be put off it the agent or company asks to call you back with the quote. That is how they work. They will need some time to input your data into the computer and get the quote back to you. Give them the time they need in order to get the best quote. While one agent is working on your insurance estimate, call the next one on the list. You should have three to four quotes before deciding from which company to buy insurance. Do not agree to any price until you have all the estimates back.
The best way is to enter your own data into an insurance search engine online. The website where you enter your information will send it to a minimum of three other agents that will all prepare estimates for auto insurance for you. They will then contact you, either by phone or by e-mail with the quotes. Most people prefer e-mail, as it allows you to review the quotes at your own leisure and you have a paper copy of quotes for reference.
Once you have all the quotes and have reviewed them, you are ready to purchase insurance.
You will save money if you pay the cost of the policy upfront. Making monthly payments usually adds a service charge to your policy which adds five to ten dollars each month.
Remember to follow the safety rules and traffic laws when driving and your insurance rates will stay low. They can even drop in price as moving violations and accidents drop from your driving record after three months.
