Do not let failing to report an accident become part of your usual business practice. No matter where people are working, a warehouse, car garage, kitchen or an office they must be kept safe and with nobody reporting accidents the whole morale of the workers will also be down.
Proper safety procedures need to be put in place in any working environment to stop injuries and deaths from occurring. There is no need for these problems to come about when companies hire people to make products, the environment needs to be safe and the employees need to act safe.
The supervisor or person directly in charge on top of you must be notified when an accident has occurred; there is no sense in waiting for even a second to hesitate. Problems are recorded so that they will not happen again to another person just like they happened in the first place, so everyone is aware of the danger.
Nobody wants to be held responsible for another person hurting him or herself and in order to make sure it does not happen logbooks should be kept. Logbooks are a great way of keeping track of how machines are running and what safety precautions can be put in place to prevent injuries.
It is a good idea to have an occupational health and safety officer employed full time on site or if it be too expensive to have someone trained up in the field so they can handle the problems that come up. A person needs to be assigned the job to make sure that it is done and that safety regulations are enforced.
Some employees have bad attitudes and refuse to do any extra work even if that extra work is just to report a safety issue. It is upsetting that people feel this way and I would suggest that these people get more training and if they refuse to and keep their bad attitudes they should not be working where other peoples lives can be effected by their actions.
Dealing with accidents incorrectly may lead to the exact same thing happening to someone else or even you. Great care must be taken in reporting accidents and failing to do so should never be an option. When faced with a problem it must be reported and labeled correctly so that people know there is a hazard there.
In conclusion whether the problem is some spilt liquid on the floor, a faulty machine or an angled floor each must be taken seriously. It should not start to be a problem when someone has already hurt himself or herself, it should never have to come to that.
