The Dodge Charger has been known to have a lengthy and fascinating history. This car made known by NASCAR and TV advertisements as well as some shows and movies, has topped all cars in the muscle car era. Its current release has endeared its followers so much because of its cheaper price and at the same time preserving its quality also.

The pioneering Dodge Charger made its public appearance in the mid 1960s. It was the highlight of that period that caught the attention of a number of motorists as and general public. The first generation Dodge Charger has a two-door coupe with a fastback style and a big V8 power engine. However because of the high fuel price and car insurance in 1970’s, the Dodge Charger had suffered losing some of its adherents just like other cars in the era.

Its second generation model of the Dodge Charger was considered to be the most recognizable among the model. It was due to the fact that the popular 80’s TV Show “The Dukes of Hazard” was inspired by Dodge Charger to create its fictional cars known as Charger Daytona and General Lee.

The succeeding generations of Dodge Chargers were not as popular as the first two. During the mid-80s though, Dodge Charger came out with an economy hatchback that later mutated into the recognizable Shelby Charger named after its designer Carroll Shelby.

The new version of the Dodge Charger is a four-door sedan that the whole family can use and enjoy. With roomy interior and standard features, the new Dodge Charger is worlds apart from the original one. The change though is necessary for this American icon as the auto industry shifts to a more lucrative utility vehicle market.

The new Dodge Charger still carries the Mercedes Benz platform that is also used in the Dodge Magnum and Chrysler 300. Though compared to other mid-sized sedan in its class, the Dodge Charger is actually much bigger. The most recognizable detail of the new Dodge Charger is the front portion which retains the aggressiveness of the original Charger. And though it is a sedan, the new Dodge Charger features a sloping rear that is similar to that of a coupe.

With its SE model, it utilizes the overwhelming 3.5 liter, 250 horsepower V6 engine. The performance model R/T has a 340 hp, 5.7 liter V8 hardware. The leading SRT-8 (Street and Racing Technology) is a highlight with its awesome 425 hp, 6.1 liter, V8 engine. Aside from those, the SRT model includes with bigger brakes, stiffer suspension and other design features.

Its disappointment has to do with its bulk size. Because of this, the Dodge Charger is not as dexterous as its much smaller counterparts. Yet, handling remains to have the same security. Its spacious interior and comfortable leg room has earned some points among old and new Dodge Charger fans. Dodge Charger fanatics would be enthralled to explore the new series of Dodge Charger keychains released in the market. The Dodge Charger keychain completes the sporty and tough outlook of the automobile. It would surely a must for all Dodge Charger fans.
