It is highly likely that your car’s paint will peel off eventually and in time you will notice that there are areas on your car which will be rusted. Rusting is achieved when oxidation occurs on iron and any of its alloys. Due to the fact that cars are expensive, we have to take steps to make sure that they will last a bit longer. This article will teach you how to repair areas of your car that are already rusted.

It all begins with preparation. Make use of a 150-grit sand paper to remove the rust, paint and primer from the affected area. Make sure that you sand the area so that the only thing remaining will be the metal. Make it a point to even out the edges of the area so that you are unable to feel any borders between the metal part and the unaffected areas surrounding it.

Afterwards we proceed with the repair. It is basically filling in the holes or gaps left by the rust. For that we need an automotive filler in order to fill up the holes or gaps. After letting it stand to dry, we then make sure that it is level by sanding and smoothing the area using a 120-grit sand paper. What we want to achieve is to have the filler level with the normal car surface. Once it is leveled you have to use a 120-grit sandpaper to smooth it thoroughly.

Third step is to do painting and finishing. You need to utilize some tape to be able to cover up the surrounding area which we do not want to be sprayed over. Spray three light coatings of paint primer on the surface. Let dry each coating before spraying the next coat. After a few hours of drying you can spray paint three to four coatings of the paint on the area. Let dry as well. Make sure that you let the paint stand out to dry for at least one whole day to make sure that the paint is truly dry.

Afterwards, you can use a microfiber cloth as well as grease in order to make the affected area achieve a high sheen. You can then wash your car and also wax it as well to make it look brand new. There you have some simple steps to take to make your car look brand new. Make sure that you act immediately when you see rusted parts because this will spread easily.
