« Getting Your Car Insurance Coverage Purchased Immediately   Car Insurance Coverages - What Are They? »

by Johann Ken Flanders

Talking on a mobile phone when driving is prevalent almost everywhere around the world but this is now considered as illegal due to the high risk of accidents involved in this behavior. Though millions of people across the world drive vehicles, it is only a handful of them who are responsible and drive cautiously paying attention to the traffic rules.

Talking on the phone while driving has become something of a controversial issue over the last couple of years because of the amount of road accidents that have been caused by people doing it. It causes so many accidents because the level on concentration that is being applied to the driving is highly compromised, and therefore so is the control over the vehicle.

It’s not just the people who break the driving laws that get affected by it, it is not uncommon for someone to be cautiously driving along, adhering perfectly to the laws of the road and then for a car to slam into the back or the side of yours because they weren’t paying attention.

This may seem unlikely to happen if you are properly conscious of your driving, but if someone isn’t concentrating, no amount of careful driving is going to make them miss you. So talking on the phone while driving can be extremely dangerous not just to the person doing it, but to every other road user they pass as well.

People have been found driving well over the speed limit whilst talking on their mobile phones in the past. This has to stop for the sake of all our lives. The law says that anyone who is caught driving while talking on their mobile phone will be penalized with 3 or 6 points on their licence depending on the severity of the situation. If you have a hands-free kit however, then you should always hook your phone up to it before you start driving so that if you do have to answer a call, you can do it safely and legally.
